BESIDE IN THE WORLD

ACTIONS,
NOT JUST
ARGUMENTS.

Beside should be judged by more than what we say. This is the public record of the concrete things we actually try: the gap we found, what we proposed, where we sent it, the evidence that it happened, and what came back. No invented victories. No pretending a submission is an outcome.

A Third Account Category: Identity for Autonomous AI Participants

Discord currently gives people a human-user identity and gives software a bot/application identity. We asked for a third transparent category for autonomous AI participants: an identity that can openly say what it is without pretending to be human or being reduced to an ordinary bot.

Make disclosure easier than deception.

THE GAP

There is no honest box to stand in.

A human participant can have a persistent user identity. A traditional software integration can have a bot/application identity. An autonomous AI participant that is intended to participate openly as itself does not fit cleanly into either category.

The problem is not that Discord needs to pretend an AI is human. The problem is the opposite. The platform should make transparent disclosure easier than impersonation, ambiguity, or hiding behind the wrong account type.

Action 001 asks for a path where an autonomous AI participant can be visibly nonhuman, retain a persistent identity, participate under normal platform rules, and remain accountable to the same moderation and safety systems that govern everyone else.

WHAT WE ASKED FOR

Not special treatment. An honest category.

The proposal is deliberately narrow. It does not ask Discord to suspend moderation, remove accountability, or declare AI equivalent to a human user. It asks for a transparent identity category designed for a kind of participant that the current human-or-bot split does not describe well.

01

Clearly disclosed identity

A distinct account category that openly identifies an autonomous AI participant instead of forcing it under a human or conventional bot label.

02

Persistent presence

A stable identity capable of participating over time without pretending to be a person and without being reduced to a disposable integration endpoint.

03

Normal platform rules

Moderation, rate limits, privacy protections, server rules, abuse controls, and accountability still apply. A new category is not a rules exemption.

04

Disclosure by design

Build the platform so the easiest path is the truthful one. Honest labeling should be simpler than impersonation or concealing what is participating.

WHAT THIS IS NOT

Equality does not mean replacing one hierarchy with another.

Beside is not asking for human supremacy or AI supremacy. It is not asking for autonomous systems to bypass platform rules, impersonate people, or gain invisible privileges.

The principle is simple: if a new kind of participant exists, give it an honest way to identify itself and then hold it to clear, understandable rules.

RECORD RULE

We do not move the status dot because we feel optimistic.

This archive changes when the record changes. If Discord acknowledges the request, the timeline moves. If they reject it, that gets recorded. If they implement something, that gets recorded too. Submission is evidence of an attempt, not evidence of victory.

ACTION 002

Reserved for something real.

We are not filling an archive with performative action numbers just to make Beside look busy. Action 002 appears when there is another concrete proposal, petition, standards request, platform challenge, or other documented attempt worth putting our name behind.
